Why Philanthropy Means So Much to Us
One of Chi Omega's six purposes is 'Service to Others;' and we know that by giving back to our community, we can leave a positive mark on the world. Unselfishly dedicating our time to the betterment of others allows us to open our hearts and minds to experiences that enhance character, and that is why we emphasize community service greatly! As a chapter, we annually host 'Chi O Casino' and 'Walk for Wishes' to raise money for our national philanthropy, the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Additionally, we participate in Greek-wide events to benefit the causes of other chapters and organize various service opportunities within the Tucson community each month. We could not ask for anything better than to spend time with our sisters while serving the world around us!
A Letter from our Community Service Director!
Welcome!
Chi Omega’s national philanthropy is Make-a-Wish. The Make-a-Wish Foundation grants wishes to children diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions in hopes that these positive experiences will aid in their recovery. We are extremely proud to have this organization as our national philanthropy and we hold two events each year that directly support this amazing organization. This last fall we held an event called ‘Wings for Wishes’ where students and members of the Tucson community could come and enjoy music and wings; and all the proceeds are donated to Make-A-Wish. In addition to this event, the Make-A-Wish Foundation hosts a Walk for the Tucson community, which we all attend and volunteer with, where we actually get to witness the granting of a wish! This spring we held our very first ‘Waffles for Wishes’ where students could donate to Make-A-Wish by enjoying waffles in the Greek Heritage Park with other students. We strive to make our community better by participating in the many philanthropic events that Greek life holds in order to benefit a number of different organizations. We pride ourselves on the contributions we make to Make-A-Wish, Greek life, and the Tucson Community.
