All Things Recruitment!

Each fall, we have the pleasure of welcoming a new class of undergraduate women into our chapter through Formal Recruitment, and we could not be more excited! Membership in Chi Omega provides a place to call home, lifelong friendships, and an inspiring environment that cultivates personal growth and achievement! You can make a difference in Chi Omega. Chi Omega can make a difference in you.

A Letter from our Recruitment Chair

Hi all!

I’m Molly Fleury, and I have the pleasure of coordinating the amazing process of recruitment for our Zeta Beta chapter this year! I am so excited to share my love for the Greek community, and show others how I found my home away from home within Chi Omega. Although I come from a long lineage of Greek family members, I entered the process skeptical and certainly knowing that I wanted to be different from my mom (let’s just say we didn’t get along great in high school??). I was a student athlete, and pictured a different future for myself, (almost) completely independently living. When my mom explained recruitment as “club volleyball tryouts with a little shot of Glee in the mix,” I thought, “Why the heck is that something I want to do?” Despite my misgivings, I enthusiastically embraced the recruitment process, and although it was an emotional rollercoaster, joining Chi Omega and continuing my family legacy was the best decision of my life! Chi Omega was a place that warmly welcomed me and allowed me to be myself, and I knew these were girls I wanted to be by my side through college, and the rest of my life (my mom still has annual girl’s trips with her Chi O sisters!). Now as a junior, I cannot imagine my life without Chi Omega – it has embraced me with friendship, love, support, and I even have the joy of sharing my Chi Omega experience with my real-life, biological sister! Going Greek was the best decision I could have made entering my freshman year, and I wish all Potential New Members the best of luck, your home is out there!

Love in Chi Omega,
Molly Fleury

Name: Shannon Macneil
Major: History & Psychology

What exactly is your role as New Member Educator?

My role as new member educator is to just help welcome the new PC into our chapter! We’ll have meetings once a week where they’ll learn the history and traditions of Chi Omega and Zeta Beta specifically. In January, I’ll also have a big role in getting them initiated and fully becoming an active member! Other than that, I’ll be the girls’ go to gal for anything and everything. They’ll all have my number and email to reach out for anything or if they just want to hang!

What advice would you give to Potential New Members going through Recruitment? My advice to anyone going through recruitment would definitely be just to be yourself!! The whole process can be really overwhelming, but it’s so worth it because being apart of a chapter full of genuine, smart, and passionate woman who will lift you up immensely throughout the next four years! Remember that the girls in the houses are all so excited to talk to you and are people too! So don’t be nervous at all! My choice to be a part of the Greek Community has been such a fulfilling experience.

If you were stranded on a desert island, what is one thing you absolutely could not live without?
I definitely couldn’t live without music, so probably a good speaker system with easy accessibility to my Spotify account! I could listen to any type of music at any time, and bet set up for life!

If you were a super-hero, what powers would you have?
I think that being able to fly would be SO COOL. I’d love to just coast through the mountains or over the ocean and just be me with no worries in the world.

If you could have anyone narrate your life, who would it be?

I would have the narrator of planet earth, David Attenborough, because he has such a peaceful tone and I feel like I’d always be calm.
